Listen and Respond to God's Word

 Leader:    As we form circle of prayer, let us ask the Holy Spirit to unite us and to fill us with power to be witnesses of God's love each day, in the past, today and in the future.

 

Reader:

Keep alive the gift of the Holy Spirit that God has given us. For the sprit of God does not make us timid. Instead God's Spirit fills us with power, love, and self-control.

From 2 Timothy 1:6-7

 

PAUSE

 

 

Leader:

Holy Spirit, with your help and power, we can work together to make our world a better place in which to live and serve and build the Kingdom.

 

All:

Come, Holy Spirit, fill us with the power of your love.

 

 

 

 

Reader:

Jesus says, "When the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you will be filled with power. You will be witnesses for me to the ends of the earth.

From Acts 1:8

Leader:

Come, Holy Spirit, fill us with your powerful love. Guide us as we ask in prayer to make our world a place of peace, compassion and justice among all our sisters and brothers no matter their creed, race or culture.

 

All:

Holy Spirit, help us to be witnesses of your love and power. Come, Holy Spirit, to help us when we are having a difficult time at in community, mission and ministry.

All:

Holy Spirit, help us to be witnesses of your love and power.

Our prayer goes on ... Come, Holy Spirit, fill me with the power of your love.

 

CLOSING PRAYER:

        God, you have moved upon the waters,

        You have sung in the rush of wind and flame,

        And in your love, you have called us sons and daughters,

        Make us people of the water and your name....

        Waters of the sea, waters of the earth: renew us!
