OPENING SONG: Happiness ( Weston Priory)
INTRODUCTION: Select a Story from Don Bosco’s Life or Tell Something about the Saint (check Salesian websites)
GOSPEL Mark 4: 26-34
And when the grain is ripe, he wields the sickle at once, for the harvest has come."
He said, "To what shall we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable can we use for it? It is like a mustard seed that, when it is sown in the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on the earth.
But once it is sown, it springs up and becomes the largest of plants and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the sky can dwell in its shade." With many such parables he spoke the word to them as they were able to understand it. Without parables he did not speak to them, but to his own disciples he explained everything in private.
PSALM 37 R/ The salvation of the just comes from the Lord.
Trust in the LORD and do good that you may dwell in the land and live secure. Find your delight in the LORD who will give you your heart's desire. R/ The salvation of the just comes from the Lord.
Commit your way to the LORD; trust that God will act And make your integrity shine like the dawn, your vindication like noonday. R/ The salvation of the just comes from the Lord.
Be still before the LORD; wait for God. Do not be provoked by the prosperous, nor by malicious schemers. R/ The salvation of the just comes from the Lord.
The LORD watches over the days of the blameless; their heritage lasts forever. They will not be disgraced when times are hard; in days of famine they will have plenty. R/ The salvation of the just comes from the Lord.
Those whose steps are guided by the LORD; whose way God approves, May stumble, but they will never fall, for the LORD holds their hand. R/ The salvation of the just comes from the Lord.
Neither in my youth, nor now in old age have I ever seen the just abandoned or their children begging bread. The just always lend generously, and their children become a blessing. R/ The salvation of the just comes from the Lord.
The salvation of the just is from the LORD, their refuge in time of distress. The LORD helps and rescues them, rescues and saves them from the wicked, because in God they take refuge. R/ The salvation of the just comes from the Lord.
LITANY OF FORGIVENESS
Forgive us for not loving completely. As we forgive those who are unloving to us.
Forgive us for not listening. As we forgive those who don’t listen to us.
Forgive us for bothering others. As we forgive those who bother us.
Forgive us our nagging. As we forgive those who nag us.
Forgive us our laughing at others’ mistakes. As we forgive those who laugh at our mistakes.
Forgive us for breaking promises. As we forgive those who break promises to us.
Forgive us our irritating habits. As we forgive those who irritate us.
Forgive us our outbursts of anger. As we forgive those who get angry against us.
Forgive us our moodiness, As we forgive those who are moody with us.
Forgive us for holding a grudge. As we forgive those who hold a grudge against us.
And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. Amen.
PRAYER Loving God, at times I have recklessly thrown aside your love for me, and I have often wasted the wealth of talents which you gave me. I cry to you as the lost son to his generous father: "I have sinned against you. Receive me again into your house from which I have wandered." Amen! Br. Nick Morris (Rome) |
