This update contains a talk given by Brother Kevin Laws in St Patrick's Province, Australia, entitled the Essendon Talk.  It is a personal reflection on the changes he has experienced over the years.

This update we complete the presentation given by Brother Matthew Walderman of EUS that deals with Edmund Rice as Servant-Leader.  Both halves of the presentation are on the same page.

This section of the website 'The Heart of Being Brother' is set aside for contributions coming from our readers and constituents relating to the vision articulated by Congregation Chapters of 1996 and 2002.

Information For Documents Submitted

To Be Submitted To The Website

This website is intended to promote reflection and dialogue within the membership of the Congregation and the Edmund Rice Network. The reflection and dialogue will be effected by encouraging our membership a) to respond to what they read on the website, b) to contribute articles for publication themselves as a result of their own personal or group reflection. In order to have a standardised editorial style in all of the material that will appear on the site, we offer the following guidelines to all potential contributors:

  • UK English will be used as a spelling standard. If a document is submitted in another spelling standard it will be automatically changed to UK standard as it is processed by the server here in Rome.

  • if documents are submitted in Spanish, or any other language used around the Congregation, please ensure that the diacritical marks are clearly shown.

  • the text styles used should be as simple as possible; elaborate and fancy font styles can cause  difficulties in downloading material.

  • for the same reason, graphics should not be included in the document unless the images are integral to the material.

  • documents should be sent via e-mail within the body of the message, or as a readable file attachment. Any other method will delay the publication process.

  • new documents will appear as they are received after being formatted for the appropriate pages of the website. If there is any difficulty regarding a document, the Manager of the website will contact the person who submitted the document.

  • if copyrighted materials are used, please include all of the relevant references. Do not include the actual words of songs etc. It is appropriate to name the song, the composer and/or the CD in which the song can be found.
